Department of Religion Undergraduate Excellence Awards
Every year, the Department of Religion may present two awards of $250 each to our best undergraduate students. They are:
- Department of Religion Undergraduate Excellence Award for Majors
- Department of Religion Undergraduate Excellence Award for Minors
Description
To be awarded yearly, to both an undergraduate major and a minor, upon the recommendation of the faculty, based upon nomination. A successful candidate will be selected on the basis of work accomplished (papers or projects), outstanding classroom participation, or general service to the study of the field of religion (for example, in working with editing or serving as a research assistant).
Eligibility
Undergraduate students who are Religion majors or minors and are not graduating seniors. No one will be eligible for more than one award, and if there are no nominations, then no awards will be made.
Selection
The awardees are selected by a faculty committee who will assess the eligible students' work and participation on the basis of the student's overall performance in the department prior to the point at which the student formally signs up as a Religion major or minor.
Announcement
The awards will be publicly announced and given by the director of undergraduate studies at the end of the school year.
Award Disbursement
Students awarded funding will receive their award via direct deposit.
