Our Ph.D. program stands out among top-tier programs as an apprenticeship program where faculty mentors who are deeply involved in scholarship of international scope support the intellectual projects of individual students and tailor the program to meet their needs and interests.  Likewise, the undergraduate major is built to be as flexible as possible so that students may pursue individual interests and interdisciplinary goals.   For graduate students, this apprenticeship model includes training in pedagogy and opportunities to teach independently.
